Warriors pry Kerr from Knicks
By Bi Yu

Steve Kerr and Marv AlbertSteve Kerr just agreed to a reported 5-year contract to coach the Golden State Warriors, who recently released Mark Jackson.  Kerr seemed to be a shoe-in for the next Knicks coach with Phil Jackson at the helm in New York.  After all Kerr won three championships under Jackson’s leadership and added two more with Popovich and the Spurs.

Kerr was coming from the TV side and has never been an NBA head coach or assistant, similar to the former Mark Jackson.  The Warriors get big names and pay big bucks for first time coaches.  This year was a bidding war for the top two coaches on paper this year’s merry-go-round, Kerr and Stan Van Gundy.  The Warriors didn’t have enough to offer for veteran coach Van Gundy, especially compared to the power he got in Detroit.

Phil Jackson and Steve KerrIf the Warriors missed on Kerr that would have been two outs and nail biting time after releasing the popular Jackson who offered the fans back-to-back playoff seasons after 22 years.  So now it’s the Knicks that get the short end of the stick.  New York could complete the spin cycle by hiring Jeff Van Gundy, a current TV analyst and former New York coach.

Then this whirl-wind would really stir some things up.  That’s why NBA coaches understand ‘they are hired to be fired’.  Lets see who New York gets. Kevin Ollie?  What will be most intriguing is who lasts the longest in their new environment.

Dream Big!
By Bi Yu

If you can believe it you can achieve it!

As children our dreams and imaginations are strong and vivid.  With the world at our fingertips we don’t believe there is anything that can stop us from achieving greatness.  After all, we start out in this world unable to walk or speak; yet we are perfect beings of unlimited potential.

Cal holds court to stay perfect in Pac-12
By Alanah Anderson
Berkeley, Calif.  1/18/14  – The California Golden Bears hold on to their perfect Pac-12 record with a 76-55 over the Washington State Cougars (8-10, 1-5 Pac-12).  Cal (14-4, 5-0 Pac-12) struggled out of the gate as WSU took an early 8-point lead in the first 9 minutes. Cal responded immediately going on a 14-0 run, that included 2 threes by senior Justin Cobbs, to take a 24-18 lead.
